16th Sunday In Ordinary Time

Date 2010-07-18

Today’s homily is based on Genesis 18:1-10a; Colossians 1:24-28 and from the Gospel of Luke 10:38-42.

As disciples of the Lord, we MUST see ourselves as extensions of Jesus. All our activity must then come from this identity. The Martha image (self-generated activity) becomes a Mary image (Spirit-generated activity) when we present ourselves to the Lord in prayer. How’s your prayer life?

Today’s message is based on Isaiah 66:10-14c; Galatians 6:14-18 and the Gospel of Luke 10:1-12, 17-20.

There is plenty of work in the Lord’s vineyard – there always will be. We are invited to join in this labor and told to “ask the Master of the harvest to send laborers.”
After reflecting on God’s goodness to us and the freedoms we enjoy do we freely choose to labor for the Lord?

We, like Peter, have confessed that Jesus is “the Christ of God.” Father challenges us to discover what part of us is still telling God how to do things.

11th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Date 2010-06-13

Today’s homily is based on 2 Samuel 12:7-10, 13; Galatians 2:16, 19-21 and the Gospel of Matthew 5:38-42.

Father reminds us to focus on our response to what is taking place in the readings and liturgy. How do we respond when Jesus “comes into our house?” Do we have an attitude of entitlement? Do we react with tears? Do we respond in some other way?
