On Saturday, March 6, 2010, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish held it’s first Adoration / Lenten Retreat. During this retreat, we heard testimony from two parishioners on how Eucharistic Adoration has affected their lives.

We end our retreat by hearing a message from Fr. Troy. Instead of a testimony, Fr. Troy gives us an example of how to pray with the Scriptures, and especially how to approach prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

Peter Kreeft : Wisdom of Jesus

Peter Kreeft, Ph.D., is a professor of philosophy at Boston College and noted Roman Catholic apologist and philosopher. As a Calvinist, Kreeft regarded the Catholic Church “with the utmost suspicion.” A key turning point was when he was asked by a professor at Calvin to investigate the claims of the Catholic Church that it traced itself to the early Church. He said that on his own, he “discovered in the early Church such Catholic elements as the centrality of the Eucharist, the Real Presence, prayers to saints, devotion to Mary, an insistence on visible unity, and apostolic succession.” And that discovery changed him forever.

On January 28 he spoke at Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Wisdom of Jesus. In this talk he examines the Lord’s wisdom in approaching life through and analysis of the Beatitudes.
